How do I get my cat to stop scratching the furniture?

Where is a good place for the scratching pad or post? What should I do if my cat scratches me?

The first thing you should do is get your cat a scratching pad or post and put it near the place your cat used to claw at. Sometimes cats continue damaging your furniture so now you can move on to a different step by getting an empty spray bottle and filling it up with water. If you ever see your cat scratching the furniture, just spray a little water on your pet and say “NO”. The cat will get the idea and stop. Cats don’t like water but it won’t harm them when you spray them, and when you say “NO”, that’s good because then they start learning and your cat will learn to be more obedient whenever you state “NO”. Whenever they hear you say “NO”, they will stop whatever they are doing because I bet they’re thinking you’re going to bring out the spray. If your cat scratches you especially when you’re trying to bathe it, you need to cut their nails and they won’t be able to scratch you.
