In general, an elephant's top speed is around 25 mph (40 kph). This top speed would be used on rare occasions, such as when they are scared or angry. Elephants typically move at a slower running speed of around 12 to 20 mph (19 to 32 kph) depending on the species, temperate and other factors.

Normally, elephants tend to stick with a steady walking speed of about 4 mph (6 kph) under normally.

when scared, an elephant can run 25 mph. but usually they walk 4 mph.
