Why does my friends mobile icon on facebook chat keep disappearing and coming back?

My friends has the mobile icon on facebook chat next to their name. Recently they've moved and I notice the mobile icon keeps disappearing and coming back. Why does it do this. Their name is still there, just the icon disappears
