At what age is it recommended that should you start being checked for colon cancer by getting a colonoscopy?

Routine colonoscopy exams to look for early signs of cancer should start by the age of 50 for most people. However, colonoscopies should start even earlier than age 50 if you have a family history of colorectal cancer, a personal history of inflammatory bowel disease, or other risk factors.

In any case, you should ask your doctor about when and how often to get a colonoscopy.
