How many grams of sugar per day is it recommended to consume?

What is the recommend maximum amount of sugar that a person should be consuming per day?

It depends on age, children and teens can have less than adults, depends on your health condition, and women can have less sugar than men. As an average, daily consumption should be maximum 8 teaspoons according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture dietary guidelines, that is about 30 grams.

This number refers to added sugar, does not include natural sugar in fruit, for example. Sugar in one can of soda may exceed the limit, not to speak about sweets.
