Why are my favorite bookmarks not being deleted in Internet Explorer 10?

When I try to delete some favorite bookmarks in IE 10, they reappear after I've deleted them. Why are the bookmarks not getting deleted properly in internet Explorer?

It's possible, that if you're using an iphone or ipad and have iCloud installed on your computer with internet explorer (or Firefox, Safari) Bookmarks set to sync automatically between your desktop and your iphone device, that your favorites are not being fully deleted because they are resyncing with the bookmarks on your phone / ipad.

So if you have iCloud installed on your computer, bring up the iCloud Control panel and uncheck "Bookmarks", then click the 'Apply' button.
