While not entirely necessary, it can be beneficial for your dog to socialize with other dogs especially as it is growing up. It is possible for a dog that has not had sufficient interaction with other dogs to experience behavioural problems in the future. The first 16 weeks of life are especially critical in the formation of a dog’s character or personality. If it is doable, allowing your dog to play or mingle with other dogs at least once a week is advisable. If you don't have friends or family who own dogs, then go to your local dog park and let your dog play with other dogs.
