Does my dog need to be around other dogs?

How important is it for my dog to be around other dogs? How long and how often does it need to be around other dogs?

While not entirely necessary, it can be beneficial for your dog to socialize with other dogs especially as it is growing up. It is possible for a dog that has not had sufficient interaction with other dogs to experience behavioural problems in the future. The first 16 weeks of life are especially critical in the formation of a dog’s character or personality. If it is doable, allowing your dog to play or mingle with other dogs at least once a week is advisable. If you don't have friends or family who own dogs, then go to your local dog park and let your dog play with other dogs.
