Why does my cat lose its hair in the summertime?

What is the reason why my cat sheds my hair in the summertime? Is it a coping mechanism against the heat?

A healthy cat should lose its winter coat and shed its hair come spring or summer time. There is no reason to worry unless the hair loss is localised. In this case, the reason for the fallout could be due to fleas, dust mites, eczema, ringworm or thyroid gland issues. If this happens, take your cat to the vet to get it checked out and treated.
