Is it harmful to keep a cat strictly outdoors?

Keeping a cat outdoors increases their risk of infectious disease, trauma, and attacks by other animals. However, indoor cats are more prone to stress, boredom, and behavioral issues. A solution would be keeping your cat indoors and occasionally allowing them to be outside in a controlled environment such as fenced in enclosure.
