What's the difference between getting the Flu vs. getting a Cold? Are the Flu and Cold the same?

1 Answer

These are not the same. The flu is caused by the influenza virus, the cold is caused by the adenovirus or coronavirus. If you caught a cold, your nose is running, you have a sore throat. Influenza is a more serious illness, it can also result in pneumonia and hospitalizations with the potential for mortality. Some of the symptoms of a flue are similar to those of a cold, but you may have have body aches and weak and fatigued. Flu symptoms usually come on with much greater intensity.
