We often heard the term collective bargaining especially among employer-employee relations. Collective bargaining is a term used for any negotiation or agreement signed between the employer and employee. This agreement is signed after both parties have talked and agreed about their needs as employer or employee. The issues that are often stated in collective bargaining contract include salary, working hours, working conditions, benefits, and rules within the workplace. After the agreement has been signed by both parties, they will now start their contract and follow what was agreed on the collective bargaining contract. Usually, after a few years, the agreement will be reviewed upon and check whether both sides were able to follow the agreement, then another contract will be drafted as a result of the collective bargaining contract.

Before, employees were given little chances to speak out for their rights and privileges as workers. During the 19th centuries, unions for employees started to emerge and had spoken about their rights and privileges as workers. They voted for union officers who will speak to them on their behalf and draft the collective bargaining agreement with the employers. Collective bargaining agreement is the best option against rallies and strikes done by employees to demand for their needs.

It is very important for both parties to follow what is stated on the agreement. Since the contract contains all the desires and needs of both parties, there should be no problem at all in following the contract. One good thing about this agreement is that it reduces the incidence of violence in the workplace. With a contract signed, there will be no need of riots outside business establishments that we often see. Expectations will be set and met without force and violence. Collective bargaining encourages employees and employers to speak out and consider different options that would satisfy both parties.
