Is it okay to “force feed” a cat that refuses to eat?

Why does my cat refuse to eat anything? Would it be harmful to feed it against its will?

It is not recommended that you feed your cat against its will. Doing so can cause injury or even death to your cat. It is best that you take her to the vet or a qualified medical specialist to get her checked out, as a cat that goes without food for too long is at risk for developing a condition called hepatic lipodosis.

One other option you can try is warming your cat’s food. Many cat owners have testified that food that has been warmed is particularly appealing to cats.
