Could a chewed power adapter ruin a computer?

My power adabpter was chewed up by my pet, could this ruin my computer?

Yes, it's possible if the power adapter stopped working properly was producing the wrong power to your computer, thus short circuiting you computers electronics. It's also possible that the chewed power adapter could start a fire due to exposed cords/ wires. If you think the power adapter is in rough shape, I'd highly recommend you replace it so you don't have to worry about a larger problem occurring down the road.
