Roses are the ideal and often the right choice when sending flowers to a friend or a loved one. Because there are various shades and colors of roses, it is important to understand what each one means in its respective situation. Here is a breakdown of roses by color and what their meaning is when sent to someone.

Red Roses – Red roses are ideal to send when you are in a romantically involved relationship with someone. Red is the color of love and passion, which is what they are meant to signify. Red roses are a perfect gift to send on anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, birthdays, or any day of the year to remind them that someone loves them.

White Roses – White roses are a perfect option to send when you are looking to congratulate someone or offer your condolences. White represents purity, honesty and innocence and symbolizes either new beginnings or ends. White roses are a great way to give condolences or express gratitude and can be sent to people you love in an unromantic way.

Yellow Roses – Yellow roses are a great choice to send friends and family on special occasions to express your friendship. Yellow is the color of joy, happiness, and cheerfulness so use it when you want to invoke these feelings in others.

Pink Roses – Pink roses are similar to yellow roses in that they express friendship but they also are meaningful to send some to whom you are appreciative or admire. They are a playful colored rose which symbolize their happiness and gratitude of being a part of someone’s life. They will fit in any occasion and are a perfect choice when you are not too sure what to pick.

Orange Roses – Orange roses are a perfect choice for new lovers because they symbolize a sort of burning desire for one another. Although the red rose is classic of pure and true love; orange gives “fire” to the love. Sometimes though, they can be appropriate for holidays such as Halloween.

Roses don’t just send their meaning through the color you choose. Just the act of sending them shows your gratitude for the recipient.
