What is St. Patrick’s Day? It is that day (on March 17th) when people pay tribute to Ireland’s patron saint, St. Patrick. It used to be a very sacred day exclusively for Irish people. However, it is now celebrated by individuals from countries all around the world. If you want to join in the fun, here are some steps you can take to truly celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

.) Try knowing a little about of the origin of the said festivity. In order for you to further understand why people are celebrating St Patrick's Day on March 17, then you should do a little research about Ireland’s history and St. Patrick's Day.

.) Wear something green. You don’t need to have a spectacular outfit on this day, but you should have some green attire to get in the spirit of the day.

.) Never be afraid to put on all the accessories that you want. If you can’t find a green shirt inside your closet, then you can make up for it by wearing green colored earrings and necklaces. No one can tell you what and what not to wear on this day.

.) Get to know the Irish cuisine. Aside from Ireland’s great beer, take a taste their roast chicken, pink bacon, praties-potatoes, Belfast breakfast, bangers and mash, boxty, stew, cabbage and colcannon. Just have fun on this special day.

.) Listen or dance to a few Irish songs. Since St. Patrick’s Day is all about food and merry making, so go out there and have some fun, and dance to the beat of traditional Celtic Irish pub songs. Simply have the time of your life!

.) Go to a local St. Patrick's Day parade and mingle with other people. Gain new friends. You don’t have to fly all the way to Dublin, Ireland. If you’re in Sydney (Australia), Montreal (Canada), United Kingdom, Chicago, St. Louis and New York City, then a local parade will definitely be held in your area.

.) Tune in to the radio. If you want to find the hottest party on St. Patrick’s Day, then just listen to well known radio stations and wait for their announcements about the upcoming events for the celebration.

.) Just “hop” from one irish bar to another. Alcoholic drinks are simply overflowing on St. Patrick’s Day. Thus, you can definitely find a pub where everyone is having a good time.  Just don't drink and drive, instead use a taxi if you know you're going to be drinking.

.) If you can’t stand the atmosphere in a crowded bar, then why not bring the party into your own home? Send an invitation to some of your friends for them to come over to your place. You can have a few drinks and dance the night away in your living room.

.) Practice how to dance the Irish way. This would certainly help you burn off a little excess fat and increase your muscles’ flexibility. Entertain your friends with the dance routine that you have learned and encourage them to practice some irish “moves” as well.

.) Try to remain respectful at the same time. Some Irish people might get offended with your extreme merry making since this day is about their patron saint in the first place. Thus, explain that you don’t mean harm and state that you respect their religious way of celebrating the occasion.
