Why do pugs smell bad?

Why does my pug still smell bad even after I give it a bath? Is there anything I can do to eliminate the odour?

A pug’s face structure and anal glands are the culprit for the way that they smell. It is just the natural physiology of the pug and this it does not mean that there is something wrong with it.

One tip of advice would be to gently rub your pug’s behind and the crevices or folds in its face using a warm wash cloth and some lavender oil. If the smell has become unbearable, I suggest taking your pug to the vet so its anal glands can be drained and its face cleaned. Ensure also that its nails are kept clipped at all times as dirt and bacteria can also accumulate here and leave a bad odour.
