In North America and the United States, Mount McKinley (or Denali) located in Alaska is the highest mountain peak with a summit elevation of 20,320 feet (6,194 m) above sea level.

In the contiguous United States, Mount Whitney located in California (Sierra Nevada Range), is the highest summit with an elevation of 14,505 feet (4,421 m).
