How long does it take to train a dog?

How many days or weeks exactly does it take to teach a dog a new trick or a new habit? How often do I have to teach it?

First off, remember that training your dog to do something new will not happen overnight. It will take consistency and extreme patience on your end. It is so critical for you to be consistent as the dog can get confused or forget what it has been taught if its training sessions are not regular or frequent.

Certain breeds such as Labrador Retrievers learn very quickly and can be potty trained in as short as a week. Other breeds may take as long as a month to learn a new trick or habit.
