If you’re adopting a kitten for the first time in many years, review your kitten-proofing basics. Your little explorer will try to get anywhere and everywhere, and her adult grace is not fully in effect. To prevent accidents, remove all fragile and heavy items off mantels and shelves. If you have plants, be sure they are cat-safe because kitty will probably chew on them. To keep your kitten from chewing electrical and computer wires, use plastic cord protectors or spray bitter apple or other taste deterrents on exposed cords. Keep people food, toxic cleaners and medications out of your kitten’s reach too.
