How can I get a Camp Fire Smell Out of a Jacket?

What's the best way to get the smokey camp fire smell out of a jacket? I've tried washing the jacket, but the smell seems to persist. Is there anything special I should do to get the smokey smell out of my jacket? Will dry cleaning the jacket work to rid the smell?

Getting the campfire smoke out of a jacket can be tough.

Make sure to wash the jacket in HOT water because smells are best extracted using hot water.

1) Try air drying it outside in the sun.
2) Try washing the jacket with Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda.
3) Try washing the jacket with "20 Mule Team Borax" Natural Laundry Booster"
4) Try washing the jacket with Sno Seal Sport Wash

To get smokey smell out of a waterproof jacket try the following:

1) Wash jacket with a non-detergent liquid soap like (Nikwax Tech Wash).
2) Hand wash jacket in Hot water and let soak for over an hour.
3) Rinse jacket 3 times and let soak for 8 hours.

If smoke smell remains, repeat the steps to get any smoke particles out of fibres of the jacket.

4) Finally, Hang jacket out to drip dry for a few hours, then tumble dry on low or medium heat.
