Will my 2-month old kitten and 1 year old cat ever get along?

How do I initiate their play?

Each individual cat is going to be different, the secret is supervision. When the older cat is rough, be stern and reprimand him, but don’t hit and get angry, otherwise he might resent the newbie and take it out on her. If he/she doesn’t seem to be gentle then remove him/her for 5 or 10 minutes then try again. The positive thing is both cats are young and your kitten might even imprint your older cat. So don’t give up, there’s no telling at first how it’ll go. Another thought, but requiring spending money, is to buy a door gate so they can see one another but are separate. Always reward them when they’ve played together nice. Little treats work wonders to soothe the savage beast.
