Why does my iPhone constantly lose charging connection with lightning cable?

I can't seem to keep my iPhone charging, as it constantly won't pick up the lightning cable connection. I've bought a new lightning cable and that didn't fix the problem. Is my iPhone charge port damaged?

Most likely there is dust and / or lint in your iPhone lightning charge port. Try turning off your iPhone, then cleaning it out. You will likely need something stiff, to get the debris out. So a stiff toothpick might work and be the safest, but you might have to resort to using a metal Paperclip.

You can also purchase iPhone / Lightning cleaning kits.
