What are some Absinthe substitues?

The green liqueur called Absinthe was banned in 1905 in several countries due to the belief that it caused insanity to some who drank it. Are there any substitutes for Absinthe that are legal?

There are a few Absinthe alternatives that are bit sweeter than true absinthe, but still have its intense aniseed flavor. Two substitues that are essential to many drinks are Pernod and Ricard.
