When you whiten your teeth, only your real teeth will get whiter, and your crown will stay the same color. Basically only natural enamel can be whitened using bleaching methods when teeth whitening. You can have your crowns can be cleaned, but their color is made to match your surrounding teeth.

Bleaching will not affect any dental work. If you want to have whiter teeth and already have fillings in the front teeth or any bonding work, you will probably need to replace all the previous dental work after completing the whitening treatments to match your new whiter teeth.

In this case, the general teeth whitening process would be to whiten your teeth to your desired degree of whiteness, then wait a couple of weeks to let the tooth color to settle in to the shade of white that you want. At this point, the crown or any other dental work can be replaced to match to your new whiter teeth color.

There is no concern in this area if you are merely using a whitening toothpaste. This toothpaste only affects the surface stain on your teeth and your crown and thus will not adversely affect the color match.
