What size supply line is needed for a kitchen faucet?

What is the correct size for a water supply line for a kitchen faucet?

Standard sizes are 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch. New faucets usually have 3/8" flex lines. If the existing water stop valves are 1/2" you have to change them to 3/8” valves.
