Oktoberfest is Germany's annual beer festival, which originally started 200 years ago in Munich, on October 12, 1810. It was started as a celebration of the royal couple's marriage Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
It is a 16- to 18-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to the first weekend in October. During Oktoberfest, over six million liters of beer will be consumed.
