Is it called St. Paddy's day or St. Patty's day?

Which is the correct way of shortening Saint Patrick's Day... St. Paddy's Day vs. St. Patty's Day?

The correct "Irish" way it's shortened is St. Paddy's Day.

However, St. Patty's Day and/ or St. Paddy's Day, are both recognized by most people as being short for Saint Patrick's Day.

St. Paddy's is the correct way. St. Patty's, while oft used, is incorrect. Paddy is short for Patrick. Patty is short for Patricia. I doubt there are any Irish men going around calling themselves Patty.
