Yes, when changing out a shower head, you'll want to turn off the main water supply going into your house. If you don't, water will spray or run out of the shower extension when you remove the old shower head. The main water supply line is typically located in the basement of houses. To shut off the main water supply line, turn the knob "Clockwise" to shut off the water to the entire house.
