When does American Express re-issue a new credit card, when old card expires?

I have an American Express Platinum credit card that is expiring (8/10) or August, 2010. That is about a week from now. Does the card expire on August 1st or is it still good through the month of August. So my question is, when does American Express re-issue a new credit card when old card expires?

American Express typically sends out your new card within a week before the expiring date (8/10) on your old card. So you should receive the new card a few days before August 1st.

Keep in mind, the old card shouldn't actually officially expire until the end of August (31st).
