Not worth the $$$

Not worth the $$$
After years of cheap ear buds I decide to drop the coin on some "BOSE" high quality expensive in ear earbuds. So October 2013 I order the $150 set of ear buds and upon receiving them they look pretty good. I fit the different size ear pieces and start to use it with my iPhone. The sound quality was very good. The first issue to me was out of the box, (now I know from a manufacturing stand point your "dammed if you do and dammed if you don't") the cord was too short, granted they give you a small extension cord with the headphones I hate multiple connections they always come apart. Some people might disagree with the length of the cord and that is understandable that is a personal preference. Now the first problem came about 5-6 months after I purchased this product when the microphone for the headset quit working, I choose to not send them in at that time because the problem was intermittent and my iPhone was old and I assumed it was in the phone, I didn't check it with another phone at that time. At about 1 year of intermittent use I started to notice the rubber material (strain relief) around the earbuds started to deteriorate. At this point, less than 2 years of ownership and roughly 90 -120 days of full use over that 2 years the shielding on the cord is cracking in various places exposing the conductor (wire) underneath. I expect that with this they will fail completely within the next few weeks. So bottom line Cord is too short Quality is terrible for the money (better length of life out of Dollar Tree $1.00 ear buds) Sound is great, but what good is sound quality when they don't work at all? I just expect better quality, longer warranty, better customer service out of $150.00 earbuds Keep looking and find a better product for your money!

    PROS:
Earbuds are comfortable, firm fitted, could wear for hours
Lines are at perfect length (if not, there's an extension), well constructed material to maintain durability
    Sweat prove
Superb SOUND QUALITY even in loud environment. (Like with MANY other in-ear headphones, the tighter the fit, the less outside sound will enter your ear canal. THE HEADPHONES do NOT let outside sound in, it is made of airtight rubber for G'sake!)
Stylish armband included that modified to FIT iPhone 5/s

    CONS:
The included armband, though is very stylish and comfortable to wear, is very flimsy. The back flap is weirdly constructed, I feel I may accidentally rip it apart if handled too rough.
Could come with a carrying case but Bose designed the armband so the headphones can be tucked into the velcro.

    REVIEW:
I am unclear to what the sodomites that giving this product less than 4 stars are talking about. These are by FAR the best SPORTS headphones I've owned...and I've only owned these for the last 2 hours. That is saying a lot if you could see my headphones collection.

There seems to be a BIG question about the SOUND QUALITY of these headphones. I'm affirming that the sound quality of these headphones are phenomenal for its class. Rich, warm, crystal clear sounds with incredible bass that is qualify to bear the brand Bose. Surely, compared to other high ends, more expensive headphones, they do not perform as well. But then again I am emphasizing that these are SPORTS headphones. What do you valued the most when you're exercising? For me:

    - Firm fit
    - Comfortable
    - Superior sound quality in term of clearness and bass
    - Durability and convenience

I will assure you that which end of the sound spectrum the headphones do poorly in is the last thing on your mind between the pounding of your heart and the sound of you gasping for air. When the music sounds good, it just simply sounds good. If you are worrying that much about the sound spectrum when you're exercising, maybe you should exercise in a recording booth where you spend thousands on sound quality equipments.

Although I agree with other reviewers who say that the sound quality of these headphones leaves a (tiny) bit to be desired, I think their sturdiness, feature set and cool looks result in an overall excellent product.

I have been using these headphones for 8 months so far, at least 4 hours daily for my telecommuting, using a Macbook computer. Obviously, the sound quality in this scenario is not that relevant but I can say that I always hear my co-workers loud and clear. Apparently the built-in microphone is sensitive enough so that they can even hear if it's rubbing against my clothes. :) When I am not in virtual meetings with coworkers, I can comfortably listen to my music albeit not with the highest quality I have heard in my life.

Like I mention in the title, I also use the headphones for my runs. I run outdoors, so the fact that the headphones are not noise-canceling comes handy: keeping the volume at a decent level will allow me to enjoy my music and also be aware of my surroundings. Regarding the "sweat- and weather-resistance" of the headphones, I have to say that I am impressed. I ran under heavy rain for around thirty minutes (fearing that my phone would drown inside my pocket) and the only thing that happened was that a bit of water got into one of the earbuds making the sound muffled. Everything went back to normal once they were dry.

All in all, I strongly recommend these headphones to people using Apple computers and/or iPhones for any of the cases I mention above.

I love Bose. My car speakers are Bose. My portable speakers for my iPhone are Bose. My home surround sound is Bose. I had high expectations for these, but I'm a little deflated. The sound? PHENOMENAL! As long as you like to listen at 3/4 volume and still hear the guy on the treadmill behind you. But the sound is phenomenal. If you are running outside and need the situational awareness, these would be perfect and I would highly recommend them. They seem to stay in place well and bleed enough sound that you'll know who or what is around you. I'm a gym rat who doesn't make it on the outdoor runs too much, so these don't block the grunters on the machines (or the machines themselves for that matter.)

I'm not bragging at all, but I don't have small arms. The arm band that comes with the headphones is quite large and if you have smaller arms, you may have to wear it as a shoulder band as to an arm band. The downside to this? If you choose to not use the armband or if you choose not to use a replacement armband, you have to use the extension. Then you're left with a cord that is about a foot too long. It just seems to be in the way no matter what you do.

These may not have been for me, but if you are an outdoor exerciser with the need to hear what's around you, I would highly recommend these. The sound is VERY hard to beat for the price range and the function. I can't speak to the durability as I only had two days with them, but I can attest to the sound.

As a side note for those looking for noise isolation, I had a pair of Etymotic Research HF5's that I ended up washing. Not once, but twice. And they still work. Just not with the iPhone as the controls got a little wonky and that is entirely my fault for washing them. Good true sound at a good price. And you'll not hear a thing. I just purchased the Jaybird Bluebuds X and had my first experience with them tonight. Good sound and the bluetooth functionality is tops! I think I found a good pair...

    Hope this was helpful.

Being a semi serious runner, half marathons, 10k etc, it is important to have a decent set of earphones. I have had several pairs in the past, of varying cost, none of which get anywhere near these ones.

They are comfortable to wear, so much so, you hardly notice you are wearing them. The volume adjuster /pause button on the cord works really well too.

Although they are priced at the top end of the market, if you are going to have high usage like me, it is well worth spending the extra money.

The phones come with three different sized ear attachments, it is important you fit the right size, upon doing so, you will find they fit snugly and comfortably into your ear, and will never fall out.

One word of warning, be careful when cutting the packaging away, as the cord is very near to the edge, and could easily be cut by the scissors.

The headphones were purchased for use whilst at the gym or out running. The option to be able to talk whilst exercising was more of a convenience.

    The Pros

The ear pieces are fantastic, fit superbly in to the ear and not only are they comfortable, they have never come out whilst training. Great extension cable to allow me to put the device in my pocket and the arm band it came with is durable, and secure.

    The cons

The reason for this purchase was so i could answer calls whilst training, they microphone has only ever worked twice as i can hear people on the call but they cant hear me.

The volume buttons are temperamental worked initially but after 6 months they only worked when they wanted or with some serious pressure.

I found the head phone music quality okay, quite tinny and with no option to increase the base.

Overall, good headset but for the price i feel a little let down by Bose.
