Moore met her first husband, John Gould Rubin, in 1984. They married in 1986, separated in 1994, and divorced in 1995. In 1996, she began a relationship with director Bart Freundlich, whom she wed on August 23, 2003. The couple had two children prior to their marriage: a son, Caleb (born December 4, 1997), and a daughter, Liv Helen (born April 11, 2002).
