The Black Mamba snake is the fastest snake in the world, capable of moving at 4.5 to 5.4 metres per second (16–20 km/h, 10–12 mph) or slithering at speeds of up to 12.5 miles per hour (20 kilometers per hour).

Black Mambas typically use their speed to escape threats, not to hunt prey, but when theatened they become highly agressive.

The Black Mamba is also considered to be the deadliest snake in the world, due to its incredible speed and the Mamba's highly aggresssive nature and lethal venom, which can kill a human in less than 20 minutes without getting administered a black mamba antivenin.
