What is the Facebook Friends "Recently Interacted" list?

What exactly is the Facebook Friends "Recently Interacted" list? What are the reasons why certain friends are on the Recently Interacted list?

I have scoured the internet for a good answer to this question, and none exist. Nobody seems to know! I have friends on my recenlty interacted list that I have never talked to on FB, or viewed their profile. So what would put them on my recently interacted list? The only thing that I can think of is that they looked at my profie or clicked on my posts. Either the list is flawed, or my theory is correct.

Or they've recently interacted with someone you've recently interacted with? That's the only other one I can think of...
