This stands for Inherited Runs Allowed. This refers to a relief pitcher who comes into the game in the middle of an inning and 'inherits' the runners already on base. If he allows those inherited runners to score, it goes against his IRA. It is a measure of how effective a relief pitcher is at coming into a game and shutting the door on a potential run-scoring threat. The lower the better.
