The word "scuba" was originally an acronym for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, but has since become a word un-to itself. The word orginated from the United States Navy to refer to their military driver's rebreather sets. Scuba diving is a a form of underwater diving where a diver utilizes a scuba set to breathe underwater.
