You will notice clear behavior changes that your cat is in heat like becoming excessively friendly, rolling around on her back, wailing and yowling in a different tone, wanting to go out more often, urinating more frequently to spread her scent around and raising her hind quarters with her tail in the air and padding her feet especially when stroked on the back. During late winter or early spring, female felines will show signs of a cat in heat one week every three weeks. This will continue until she is mated that is nine months or longer. The heat period can become more frequent until it is almost a continuous state if she does not mate. The signs of a cat in heat will stop if successfully mated.
