What are crudites?

I've never had crudites before, but apparently they can be dipped in ceasar salad dressing... So what's a crudite and are they any good?

Crudites are a traditional French appetizer which are essentially raw vegetables cut up (such as celery sticks, carrot sticks, broccoli or cauliflower) and served as hors d'oeuvres, often with a dip (such as ranch dressing or vinaigrette).

In essence, Crudites are better known as a Veggie platter to those in the United States.
