How do I keep my cat free from fleas and ticks?

What are some good ways to keep my cat free from fleas and ticks? Where can I purchase these things?

First off, keep your cat indoors if this is a big issue for you. Secondly, pay your vet a visit and ask him to hook you up with vaccines, a flea collar or tick medicine. This should do the trick in keeping your cat flea and tick free.
