There are a few things as an owner that will make your deaf cat adapt to life much easier. Always approach your cat from the front so as not to startle them. Confine your cat in a penned area when outside if your cat is severely deaf or if you live in a busy urban area. Teach your cat some hand signals similar to distance dog hand signals that they can recognize from afar. A flash light can be used to call your cat at night time. Cats are curious creatures so flashing a light would grab their attention. While outside, make sure your cat is wearing a collar which indicates that they are deaf in case they get lost. A deaf cat, in most cases, will compensate for its disability and be able to live a normal, happy life.
