Can boric acid kill a cat?

Is boric acid poisonous to cats? I'm using it to get rid of carpenter ants, and don't want to kill my cat in the process.

If a cat were to consume a large enough amount of boric acid it would be deadly. However, boric acid is not leathel to humans or cats in small amounts, but should be avoided either way.
