Dr. William Annitto and dr. William Layman stated in their study “Anabolic Steroids and Acute Schizophrenic Episode” that a schizophrenic-like reaction may be related to the ingestion of anabolic steroids.

This dangerous side effect mostly develops in cases of people with family history of schizophrenia.

Apart from this, anabolic steroids have many other severe side effects like hallucinations, mental disorders, depression, aggressiveness, swelling, increased size of heart, liver, kidneys, increased cholesterol count and blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, bone deterioration.
